The Institute is a potential Center of Excellence for the scientific support of civil protection operational bodies and policy-making bodies in these matters.
Indicative and in support of the initiatives of the Region of Western Macedonia for the Creation of a Multi-Thematic Civil Protection Park and the operation of the National Firefighter Training School, the Civil Protection Institute of the University Research Center of the University of Western Macedonia will conduct applied research and offer scientific and technological support of civil protection bodies.
Emphasis will be placed on the Regional and Inter-regional level as well as the cross-border level as the Region of Western Macedonia is an external region of the European Union and a gateway for the transfer of know-how for the Western Balkans region and beyond.
